Book a clean-up collection

Waverley residents have one scheduled collection per year, plus can book an additional two 'Your Call' collections per calendar year using the button above. See below to find your scheduled collection date, and to understand what items can and cannot be included in your clean-up collection.

Please note, leaving items on the street without a confirmed clean-up booking is considered illegal dumping, which attracts significant fines.

Scheduled Clean-Up collection

To dispose of unwanted household items in our scheduled annual collection, simply look up the scheduled collection date for your address here. No booking is required.

Always present your items for collection on the Sunday evening before your clean-up scheduled date. Collections are completed within the nominated collection week.

Please review the terms and conditions for using this service:

  • Items must be presented neatly on the kerb the Sunday evening prior to your collection date
  • A maximum of 2 cubic metres (2 metres x 1 metre x 1 metre) can be presented
  • Carefully review our list of accepted items and what cannot be collected
The following headings in the section toggles the corresponding container directly below

  • Old and broken furniture
  • Broken small appliances
  • Metals and whitegoods (e.g. fridges, washing machines)
  • Damaged general household items that cannot fit inside a garbage bin
  • Mattress (limit to 2 singles or 1 larger per collection)
  • Bulky garden organics (i.e. tree branches no larger than 10cm in diameter should be cut into 1 metre pieces and tied and bundled)
  • Mirrors (maximum size 1 metre x 1 metre wrapped in a sheet/blanket)
  • e-waste that cannot be dropped off at our drop-off stations
  • Paint cans (must be empty)

  • Place your clean-up items neatly on the kerb the evening before collection. Be mindful not to block roadways or footpaths.
  • Items put out too early may attract illegal dumping as passers-by can add to the pile.
  • Each clean-up collection should not exceed 2 cubic metres.
  • Remove doors off fridges and other appliances whenever possible.
  • Think about the safety of your neighbours and our crew when presenting your materials. For example, mirrors of any size must be wrapped to prevent glass from shattering.
  • Remove batteries from small appliances – batteries are hazardous and should be safely dropped off at one of our drop-off stations.

Waverley Council's clean-up collection service helps to reduce the cost and pollution associated with illegal dumping, and is not designed to recover resources. We are unfortunately unable to recycle, repair or reuse most items collected aside from mattresses, large metal items and certain whitegoods. Mattresses (made of cotton and metal springs) and whitegoods (made mostly form metal) and other metal items are separated out at the transfer station and recycled. All other items collected in clean-up service are sent to landfill at this time. Council continues to research ways to divert these items from landfill.

Before booking a clean-up, review our A-Z waste guide as there may be a way to recycle or donate your items.
