Get a Quote & Start Your Service
Email or call us on 9083 8667 to arrange a quote for your commercial waste needs, and when you’re ready to start your service submit the Commercial Waste Agreement form.
Pay Your Bill
You can pay for your commercial waste service each time you are invoiced via credit card, or you can setup a direct debit from either your bank account or credit card.
Visit the Commercial Waste Services section of Council’s payments page for either option.
Note: you will need the “Cust ref” number from the bottom of your invoice to pay your bill (which is different to your Account Number or Invoice Number).
If you wish to pay via manual bank transfer, email us for Council’s bank details.
Bin Options
You can choose the bin size for each service you require. You can also mix and match bin sizes to suit your needs:
- Commercial Garbage (landfill) red/maroon bins are available in 240L wheelie bins and 660L four-wheel bins. If this is beyond your needs, you can also purchase pre-paid blue rubbish bags that can be left on the kerbside the night before pickup, although these cannot be used for food waste. Blue bags are available for purchase at our Bondi Junction Customer Service Centre for $120 for a 10-pack.
- Commercial Recycling yellow bins are for co-mingled plastics, paper, cardboard, glass and can recycling. 240L wheelie bins and/or 660L four-wheel bins are available.
- Commercial Garden Waste green bins are for non-food organic matter, such as plant waste from a florist or a gardener. 240L wheelie bins and/or 660L four-wheel bins are available.
To check if the bins will fit into your storage area, see Sulo’s website for the 240L and 660L dimensions.
Bin Pick-Ups
Bins can only be put on the kerb the night before your collection, or at the collection point you have arranged with Council’s Commercial Waste team. Your bin lid must be closed with no waste overflowing in order for it to be picked up. We ask you promptly store your bins after they have been emptied to keep our neighbourhood beautiful.
Waste outside the bin is considered illegal dumping which attracts heavy fines.
What Goes in Which Bin
We encourage you to print our Commercial Waste brochure and put it in your bin room so staff understand what can (and cannot) go in each bin.
Commercial Garbage (red/maroon bin)
- Soft plastics
- Food trays
- Food scraps
- Polystyrene foam and bubble wrap
- Broken glass (if wrapped in newspaper)
You cannot use the red bin to dispose of dangerous items, batteries, paint, oil, sharps, broken crockery, light globes, building site waste. Use the Planet Art Business Recycling directory for advice on dealing with these items.
Commercial Recycling (yellow bin)
- Plastic bottles and jars
- Glass bottle and jars
- Milk and juice cartons (excluding long-life milk products)
- Paper
- Cardboard (food needs to be removed)
- Aluminium foil (food needs to be removed)
- Newspapers/magazines
You cannot use the yellow bin to dispose of items that the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) say are for landfill (trash can symbol) or ‘return to store’ recyclable. Use the Planet Art Business Recycling directory for advice on dealing with these items.
Commercial Garden Waste (green bin)
- Grass cuttings
- Weeds
- Flower cuttings
- Branches up to 100mm in diameter
- Christmas trees if cut up
You cannot use the green bin to dispose of food waste – this should go in your red bin. Heavy tree limbs and/or timber cannot go in green bins. Use the Planet Art Business Recycling directory for advice on dealing with these items.
