Housing & homelessness

Waverley Council acknowledges that not all people in the community have access to safe and secure accommodation. Council is deeply aware of the growing challenges residents face with housing and the rising cost of living. Almost half of Waverley’s household’s live in private rentals, and many tenants are doing it tough, struggling to find affordable housing and cover increasing rental prices and living costs.

Council has 68 units in various locations around Waverley, which are managed by Evolve Housing. Council supports residents in need of housing assistance through three targeted programs.

Compared to other LGAs, Waverley has a relatively low number of homeless people. Council is committed to addressing homelessness in Waverley and works with a number of specialist services and government agencies on homelessness initiatives.
