Environmental grants

Environmental grants are available to fund on-the-ground community projects that deliver tangible outcomes in the local area. Projects must contribute to Council’s Environmental Action Plan targets regarding waste, water, greenhouse gas emissions, responding to climate change and/or biodiversity.

Examples include:

  • Mains water use reduction or storm water capture through water tanks, new efficient tap/toilet devices or rain gardens.
  • Reducing emissions through solar installations, appliance upgrades, converting away from gas, or supporting low emissions travel.
  • Supporting local biodiversity through wildlife habitat creation.
  • Reducing waste going to landfill through innovative, waste avoidance, recycling or reuse projects.

Successful applicants receive:

Up to $5000 towards the project.

Eligibility criteria:

  • The program is aimed at proposals from schools and childcare centres, out of school care, Parents and Friends associations, incorporated community groups and micro businesses (5 FTE or less).
  • Organisations can receive no more than one grant per funding round.
  • Applicants must have acquitted any previous Council grants.
