Car share
Image: credit GoGet
One of the signature projects of the Waverley's People, Movement and Places transport vision sets out actions to promote shared and electric vehicle use. Research shows that share car users tend not to buy a car or second car, and as a result, the average share car takes about 12 cars off the street. This represents a big advantage for an area as densely populated as Waverley, and that is why Council has had a Car Share Policy since 2012 to encourage and facilitate car sharing services.
There are two car share operators in the area – GoGet and Flexicar
Using car share
- Any fully licenced driver can access car share by registering with GoGet and/or Flexicar.
- All vehicles have a dedicated ‘pod’ meaning a specific parking spot where the vehicle must be returned as detailed via the Go Get or Flexicar app. There is no parking restriction when the car is in its allocated pod, but standard parking restrictions apply when parking elsewhere.
Report an issue with car share
GoGet and Flexicar vehicles are entitled to park subject to standard parking restrictions.
- If renting a car share and you find the car’s pod is occupied:
- notify GoGet via the app and park the car elsewhere in an unrestricted car spot. More information.
- notify Flexicar via info@flexicar.com.au and park the car elsewhere in an unrestricted car spot.
- If a car share vehicle is illegally parked, contact Council.
- If a driver using a car share vehicle is driving dangerously, contact the police assistance line 131 444 or 000 in an emergency.
