Public transport
Waverley is well serviced by public transport, and indeed has NSW’s most popular bus route (the 333 Circular Quay to Bondi Beach express).
Council’s People, Movement and Places transport vision prioritises public transport into the future, with signature projects including the Bondi Junction Interchange and Bondi Road Corridor. Council is also responsible for some public transport infrastructure within streetscapes, such as bus shelters.
Most NSW public transport is fully integrated with mapping services such as Google Maps, with live arrival and departure times. For further information on local public transport, see below.
Buses
Bus is the most popular form of public transport in Waverley.
For bus routes see the Transport Info website or use the Trip Planner. The TripView app is also available.
Waverley Council opposed the recent privatisation of buses in Sydney but continues to advocate for improved bus services and driver working conditions.
Trains
Bondi Junction is the only train station in the Waverley area and is the final eastern stop on the T4 – Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line. Connect at Central for regional lines and Central or Town Hall for the airport.
For train lines see the Transport Info website or use the Trip Planner. The TripView app is also available.
Ferries
There are no ferries that run directly to Waverley. However, there are ferry services that run from Circular Quay to Rose Bay with connecting bus services to Vaucluse, Dover Heights, Edgecliff, and Bondi Junction.
For ferry routes see the Transport Info website or use the Trip Planner. The TripView app is also available.
Community transport
Randwick Waverley Community Transport (RWCT) provides transport services in the Randwick and Waverley area for people who are older, frail or have an illness or disability that makes ordinary transport difficult. This may include transport options for hospital and medical trips, as well as shopping and social outings.
Visit RWCT.org.au for further information.
Accessible travel
Mobility aids including wheelchairs, scooters, walking frames, prams and strollers can safely board and travel on most trains, buses, ferries and all light rail vehicles.
Assistance animals are permitted on all public transport in NSW. For more information on public transport accessibility visit Transport NSW.
13 Cabs Zero 200 is the local provider of wheelchair accessible taxi services.
Taxis and ride share
A range of taxi and ride share services operate in the Waverley Council area, and there are pick-up/drop-off bays in prime commercial locations across the LGA.
Two ride share operators work in the area – Uber and Didi.
13 Cabs Zero 200 is the local provider of wheelchair accessible taxi services.
