Social Impact Assessment Guidelines

The Waverley Social Impact Assessment Guidelines 2022 highlight the importance of and guide the assessment of social impacts of proposed development.

A Social Impact Statement (SIS) is the name for the report assessing the social impacts of a Development Application (DA) or Planning Proposal (PP) and is supposed to tell us what social impacts matter when it comes to proposed developments, where the impacts will be felt, by whom and how. Such reports should also deal with how impacts will be managed, or, indeed, if they can be managed at all.

Applicants of all DAs and PPs should refer to the Guidelines to understand what Social Impact Assessment is and whether an SIS report is required for their application lodgement. Applicants of DAs should also refer to Part B17 of the Waverley Development Control Plan 2022 for Social Impact Assessment-related objectives and controls.
