Bondi Lifeguard Facility Upgrade

Inside first aid facility

Waverley Council is renovating Bondi Beach Lifeguard Tower and constructing a purpose built first aid and incident management facility under the promenade.

Over the years, coastal conditions have degraded the tower and advances in the professional Lifeguard service provided by Council means there is a need for enhanced facilities, particularly around first aid and incident response.

The upgrade includes:

First Aid Facility

  • A modern and purpose built first aid facility including a reception window level with the beach
  • Storage and locker area
  • Staff toilets and showers
  • Accessible toilet

Lifeguard Tower

  • Replacement of glazing, awning and roof
  • Improved staff facilities

Works commenced in May 2022 and work hours are 7am–5pm, Monday to Friday.

During construction temporary demountables will be used for the Lifeguard's storage and offices. The Lifeguards will move back into the upgraded tower early 2023.

This project is part funded by the Australian Government via the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program. The LRCI Program supports local Councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.
