Rodney Reserve

Rodney St, Dover Heights

Rodney Reserve

Set against a sweeping backdrop of the Pacific Ocean, Rodney Reserve is a historic site with a sports field for casual use and hire.

Rodney Reserve is renowned for being the site of a former WWII radar station used by the Royal Australian Air Force. Following the war, it housed one of the most prominent field stations for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), which pioneered studies in radio astronomy. A plaque and replica of an early radio telescope can be found in the reserve to commemorate the site’s scientific importance.
