Bondi Pavilion

Bondi Pavilion, a significant landmark on Bondi Beach, has a rich history reflecting its role as a community and cultural centre.

The first 'Castle Pavilion' was built in 1911 but was soon replaced by the current Bondi Pavilion, completed in 1930. Designed in Georgian revival and Mediterranean styles, this new Pavilion featured changing rooms, Turkish baths, shops and a ballroom, and soon bacame a central cultural hub.

The Pavilion underwent significant renovations starting in the 1970s, evolving into a cultural venue with a theatre, gallery, and community spaces. It was designated a heritage site in 1977.

The latest renovation, completed in September 2022, modernised the building while preserving its historic elements. Upgrades included a new art gallery, theatre, music studios and solar panels, along with the restoration of historic murals.

Today, Bondi Pavilion remains a cherished community landmark, hosting festivals and events that celebrate its enduring legacy as a focal point of Bondi Beach's social and cultural life.
