Use of public spaces
Waverley’s outdoor spaces provide stunning backdrops for events and commercial activities. Council has an application process in place for people wanting to use public spaces, to ensure that they are used safely, sustainably and in a way that benefits the whole community.
Depending on the nature of your planned activity, approval from Council may be required in the form of a permit.
Approval is needed for events with 100+ people, such as a festival or street parade, or events which require equipment to be brought in (e.g. chairs, PA system, marquee). A permit is also required for corporate team events and commercial activities like fitness training and product sampling.
A permit is not required for activities like wedding photos, family picnics, events without equipment and casual sport with less than five people.
When using Waverley’s parks, beaches and open spaces, please ensure that your group complies with the public space usage conditions.
