Off-leash parks
In the Waverley Council local government area there are both all-day off-leash parks and parks with timed off-leash access.
Dog owners are always responsible for their animal, and this includes:
- Being able to recall and leash their dog at any time;
- Removing their dog from the park if it becomes aggressive;
- Cleaning up after their dog;
- Ensuring the dog is leashed before exiting the off-leash area.
Dogs must be leashed at all other times when in public and are prohibited in some places such as pools, schools, BBQ areas, sport and bushcare areas as signposted. Refer to section 14, Division 1 of the Companion Animals Act for the locations dogs can never access NSW-wide.
Dangerous, menacing or restricted dogs can never be off leash in public.
Even when in an off-leash park, keep dogs 10m away from play areas for children, outdoor BBQ areas and sports/recreation fields. Off-leash areas may change, and it is the owner’s responsibility to observe signage on-site. |
