Sustainability Leadership


Waverley Council is committed to sustainability leadership to meet the community’s expectation for the highest standards of environmental performance and stewardship of the local area.

This means committing to:

  • Actively reducing emissions through Council’s fleet, facilities and procurement;
  • Building climate resilience;
  • Delivering positive impact events;
  • Implementing circular economy solutions;
  • Reflecting environmental value in investments, planning and asset management; and
  • Advocating strongly to support and drive policy at all levels to ensure environmental protection, both locally and globally.
The goals in the Environmental Action Plan aimed at building a circular, resilient and sustainable Council are:
  1. Net Zero Council emissions by 2030 (see graph)
  2. 100% renewable energy
  3. 0% increase in Council water use
  4. Improve Council’s sustainability performance
