    Looping Bondi Junction into the Circular Economy

    Embracing the circular economy means ‘designing out waste’, using and reusing resources efficiently, and minimising what is thrown away. It requires active support for processes like reuse, repair, maintenance, refurbishment, remanufacture, composting and recycling.

    With funding from the NSW Environment Protection Authority and in partnership with key local businesses, Council has developed a Bondi Junction Circular Economy Roadmap to help our community reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions, and minimise harm to the environment.

    The Roadmap is guided by the following principles:

    • Meeting waste diversion and net zero targets;
    • Educating the community;
    • Embedding circular economy principles;
    • Promoting local champions;
    • Encouraging innovation and collaboration;
    • Improving data collection and reporting across sectors; and
    • Advocating for regulatory change!
