  • Social Impact Assessment as part of Development Assessments: In response to a Mayoral Minute, Council officers will investigate the preparation of Social Impact Assessment Guidelines for inclusion in the new Waverley Development Control Plan to provide advice and guidance to applicants submitting a development application on how to meet the requirements of section 4.15 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979; Investigate whether the Local Environmental Plan template from the State Government allows for the making of social impact statements or assessments; Report back to Council outlining the issues associated with social impact assessment
  • Coronavirus (COVID-19) Preparedness: In response to a Mayoral Minute, Council notes some of the Council’s actions to date to help protect against COVID-19. This includes the ongoing monitoring by staff of our beaches, parks, Coastal Walk and other attractor sites to ensure extant public health orders are being adhered to. The Mayor will now write to both the Minister of Health and Medical Research and the Minister of Police advising of the Council’s actions and thanking them for the assistance and efforts of their agencies in serving the Waverley local government area throughout the pandemic period to date
  • Council’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) Business Support Package was carried has been extended. The support package will continue to be in place until 30 September. To find out what support is available, contact our business response team at business@waverley.nsw.gov.au
  • Council has allocated $316,703 to various organisations in community services and cultural grants for 2020-21. This includes a $5000 grant to North Bondi Surf Club to celebrate 40 years of women being full members in Surf Lifesaving Australia. The grants awarded were all for the sums sought by the applicants
  • Our trial of public forums, where residents can address Councillors before a Council Meeting on any matter, has been extended by 12 months. Register to speak by calling our Governance team on 9083 8000
  • Council kept the Mayor’s and Councillors’ fees for 2020-2021 at the 2019-2020 level
  • Due to the total budget required to deliver the recommission of the mosaic at the North Bondi Children's Pool is now estimated to be in the range of $560,000 to $708,000, Council decided it will instead request for quotation for a new artwork to be installed in the space. The mosaic was removed in April last year during works to repair concrete cancer at North Bondi. The pieces of the mosaic that were saved in the process will be rehoused in the Council’s Local Studies collection, or gifted to the artists
  • Consideration of progressing an option of a 2.5–3 m wide footpath in Calga Place [Bronte Cutting car park] to concept design was adjourned to allow Bronte Surf Club to be consulted.
