Waverley Council has been working with St Vincent’s Hospital since April last year on our emergency responses to the pandemic including helping the hospital establish one of the state’s busiest COVID-19 testing clinics at Bondi Beach.

St Vincent’s offer at the beginning of May this year to vaccinate our frontline staff stems from this unique partnership and participation by our frontline staff is voluntary.

We are still in the midst of a pandemic, and Waverley continues to attract a large number of visitors and is one of the most densely populated areas in NSW. We welcome the opportunity to help keep our staff, visitors and the community safe through vaccinations.

Since the start of the pandemic in Australia, Waverley Council has been in the spotlight for COVID-19 cases and our management of the safe use of our public places to help stop the spread of this deadly virus.

Our staff have continued to provide vital services to the community including during those challenging times when Waverley was recording the highest number of COVID-19 cases in NSW.

Vaccination is our strongest defence against this deadly virus and our Council supports any efforts to extend the vaccination roll-out in NSW to as many people as possible.

Paula Masselos, Mayor of Waverley
