Throughout Saturday and Sunday, Waverley Council staff have been assessing the impact of recent big swells and high tides.
At North Bondi, there was damage to the promenade and fence above the Wally Weekes pool and this section remains closed until the area can be secured.
The Bondi to Bronte walk was closed on Saturday at Notts Avenue due to waves over the pathway, but this was re-opened on Sunday.
Tamarama suffered damage to garden beds and bin corrals as a large amount of sand was washed up from the beach to the park area.
At Bronte Beach, the brick fencing on the promenade was damaged, as water inundated the park, and there is damage to the pool surrounds.
Paula Masselos, Waverley Mayor said “the impacts of climate change are evident as these events become more frequent.
“Our staff are securing the areas to make them safe for the community, but it is likely to be many weeks before we can fully restore the damaged areas”.
Works will include rebuilding brick walls, grooming and grading our beaches, steel fabrication and netting for Bronte Pool and steel fabrication and concrete repairs at North Bondi Pool and promenade.
