Edinburgh Fringe award-winning kid's comedy, a Japanese-style puppet workshop and hip-hop dance: take your kids on a global culture trip this April with Waverley Council’s affordable and inclusive autumn School Holiday Program.

Our school holiday program offers something for students of all ages from soccer, tennis and basketball at Margaret Whitlam Centre to LED workshops, creative writing and glass jar decorating at Waverley Library.

It’s grown-up fun for younger audiences at Bondi Pavilion with the multi-award winning The Listies: Rolling on the Floor Laughter comedy show (April 19 and 20); A Little Bit of Blue puppet show by Little Wing Puppets and Japanese Bunraku-style paper puppet workshop (22 April) and the Rainbow, Mermaid, Fireworks arts and crafts program (18-21 April), accompanying the exhibition in the Art Gallery, among other events.

Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, said the Council’s school holiday program is all about kids having fun and learning new skills along the way.

“From traditional sports to out-of-the-box theatre, there’s everything in between to help keep our younger residents entertained and introduce them to our Waverley Council’s diverse arts and culture and family programming,” Mayor Masselos said.

“Most of our school holiday events are free or offered at low-cost and have been programmed by our arts and culture and library officers to ensure the content is engaging, interesting and memorable.

“The program also re-introduces young people and families to our newly restored Bondi Pavilion, the heart and community, culture and events in Waverley and home to the east’s newest restored theatre.

“The Bondi Pavilion Theatre is our theatre in the east, it’s a state-of-the-art performance space for the people and there’s always something interesting to experience at the theatre.

“Our new café and restaurants tenants Glory Days Bondi and Promenade Bondi Beach are also now open for beachside dining with a laid-back vibe.

“And a reminder that the Welcome Centre at Bondi Pavilion is open seven days a week from 10am-4pm for all your Customer Service needs and admin including parking permits and rates, beachside.”

Waverley Council’s school holiday program also includes events at the Waverley-Woollahra Art School such as aurora painting in acrylic, colourful abstract painting, the art of wheel-throwing, wire sculpture and shield making.
