We’re kicking off 2025 with arts, culture, and fun! With a huge stack of incredible performances, workshops, music, and more, there’s no way January will be quiet.

Get the kids out for interactive fun at The Whale

" "

From 4 – 12 January, Square Part Puppet Theatre brings you an incredible interactive puppet show, where guests will be invited to help bring a 10-metre-long whale installation to life in a fantastical deep-sea journey.

A must-see activity for the whole family these school holidays! More here.

The Whale was co-commissioned by Waverley Council - Bondi Pavilion, City of Busselton, and Curtin University.

Celebrate our coast with these Summerama activities

" "

We run Summerama each year in January and February, offering fun and free activities for everyone to learn, experience and celebrate our amazing coast.

We'll be kicking off the activities with a Rockpool Discovery Tour on 14 January, guided by an expert marine biologist who will help us uncover the amazing marine life that live in Bondi's rockpools. From the 24 January, we will be exhibiting the finalists from the 2024 Kelp Photography competition, celebrating these incredible ecosystems and the life they support, at Waverley Library.  Plus, on 14 February, we will be announcing the winners of our annual Love the Cost photography competition and officially opening the exhibition, full of photos from local photographers capturing the stunning beauty of Waverley's coastline.

For the kids who love to dance

" "

Have you got a young one itching to become the best dancer they can be? This dance workshop with Sydney Dance Company at Bondi Pavilion is just the ticket for any aspiring dancer. Learn from the best in the biz, whilst making new friends and having fun.

Come for the art, stay to create

" "

From now until 2 February, Bondi Pavilion Gallery is exhibiting the provocative new collection from Karla Dickens titled Rise and Fall, which responds to the climate catastrophe that struck her hometown of Lismore, through the lens of a First Nations person. Join Dickens for an artist talk on 18 January, in conversation with Daniel Mudie Cunningham.

As part of the exhibition, there will also be a special screening of Earthball, a short film from cult surfing icon, Andrew Kidman, on 11 & 12 January. Following the screening, you can get your creative juices flowing with a sculpture workshop to create your very own earthball. These new creations will then be featured in the exhibition!

Take time to join a Death Cafe and demystify end-of-life planning

Death is a natural part of life and an experience that touches us all, though, despite this, conversations around dying and death literacy are not commonplace. On 31 January we are holding our first Death Cafe of 2025, where people will have an opportunity to explore their thoughts and feelings about death, dying and end-of-life in a non-judgmental and compassionate environment.
