Media release: Waverley Council is pleased to announce that Sculpture by Sea has signed a license agreement with the Council to remain in Bondi.

Media release: Following discussions on Monday 20 April with the Minister for Health and Medical Research, Brad Hazzard, the Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, today announced strict new ‘Swim & Go’ and ‘Surf & Go’ measures at Bondi and Bronte beaches and ‘Surf & Go’ at Tamarama Beach.

It has been reported that Council is working on a proposal to reopen its beaches. I strongly reiterate that this is not the case.

I’d like to thank everyone who stayed at home over the long weekend and maintained social distancing when exercising in our public places.

Message from the Mayor: Waverley Council is actively carrying out on-site inspections of backpackers and boarding house-type facilities and other residential properties of concern.

This is a message I did not want to have to share, but we now know Waverley Council currently has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in NSW, with 105 being recorded as at 8pm on 25 March.

Media release: In line with Australian Government announcements on social distancing, Waverley Council will today be closing all playgrounds and outdoor sporting facilities until further notice.

Council is focused on supporting the whole community, and particularly vulnerable and at-risk residents, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and maintain social connections and quality of life.

In response to the economic impact on small business caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Waverley Council has prepared a $1 million per month relief package for small businesses operating in the local government area.
